Canon Character Application
Character Name: James “Jim” Worthington Gordon, Sr.
Nickname/Alias: Commissioner Gordon
Version: Mostly taking things from The Animated Series with a touch of Frank Miller (comics) and Nolan (film).
Race: Human
Alignment/Affiliation(s): Gotham City Police Department
Occupation/class: Police Commissioner
Physical Appearance: Older, either in his late fifties or sixties, white hair and a mustache. He is of slender build.
Abilities: Hand to hand combat.
Weaknesses: Standard human weaknesses.
Personality: A man if strong integrity, Jim holds to a strong code of ethics by which he works. He holds a great disdain for corruption within the police force.
Background/History:
Comics: batman.wikia.com/wiki/James_Gordon
Nolanverse: batman.wikia.com/wiki/James_Gordon_(Gary_Oldman)
Formerly a Special Forces veteran, who had also served as a police officer in Chicago, Jim had transferred to Gotham, where he eventually succeeded Grogen as Gotham’s Police Commissioner. Jim holds a deep commitment to ridding Gotham of crime. Although somewhat skeptical of the Batman’s vigilante methods, he sees how Gotham has a necessity for the dark knight. Therefore, Jim often asks for the Batman’s help in solving crimes that are either particularly puzzling, or are known to have been committed by supervillains.
Jim had retired from his role as commiseration for a time; however, due to the corruption within the GCPD, he returned to work. The exact circumstances of his return were not revealed within the comics.
Family: Barbara Gordon (daughter), who was also the first Batgirl, and is currently the Oracle. Jim is very proud of his daughter and her accomplishments.
Role-play Sample
Gordon stood with the collar of his fog coat flipped upward, in an effort to stave off the wind. The air had a nipping bite to it, that night. The Klieg searchlight was turned on, as the bat’s signal lightened upon the overcast sky.
((((Some stuff here about his current case))))
Although Jim had his suspicions about just who the perpetrator might be, there were still doubts. The prime suspect was still locked away in Arkham—he had checked on that first ting, to make sure. Unfortunately, confinement had never stopped that madman before.
Regardless, this was something that Jim wanted to run by his old friend. He wanted to see if there was something that the investigators had overlooked—or, if there was something that the Batman knew, that they did not.
